online teaching tips teaching online victoria hockaday 71Are you ready to teach courses online?

As places have been closing in-person workshops, many people are looking to turn their in-person services into online offerings.

Perhaps you deliver training, consultancy or coaching and you’re used to giving in-person workshops and courses. Maybe your workshops have been cancelled or put on hold and now you need a “plan b”.

With little sign of this crisis diminishing, now is a great time to consider how you might turn your offline services into online offerings.

Not only is this a smart strategy to be forward thinking as the world moves more online, creating online offers is also an effective way to scale your business to true profitability.

…No more trading time for money.

…No more feast or famine.

…No more worrying about how to pay your next bill.

Sounds good, right?

So with that, I thought I’d share with you actionable step-step strategies you can implement now, so that you can make that successful transition.

But before we dive in, you might be thinking “but I don’t have a niche!”

Yep, I totally get it. You’ve probably been offering different things up until now and if you don’t know your niche, you’re going to hold yourself back from creating your online offerings. If you want to get hyper clear on your niche, read more about it here.

Offer online coaching

If you’re used to offering in-person services you can easily package this into a one-on-one coaching package.

You can deliver online coaching using Zoom, which is a free video conferencing software that allows you to share your screen and record your lessons in case your clients want to go over anything again.

Worried that your clients will feel overwhelmed by the tech? Don’t worry, I’ve got your back! One thing that I recommend you do is to create an onboarding process for every client that you sign up to work with you.

Here’s a few things that you’ll want to include:

  • An onboarding page that explains how they can book a 1-on-1 session with you by using a scheduling system.
  • Video tutorials on Loom that explains how they can log into a Zoom meeting.
  • Any pre-work they need to do before they attend the first session.

This onboarding process can be created once and be used time and time again. If you don’t have an onboarding process already, I recommend that you create one, because if you deliver a great client experience you’ll be more likely to get referrals.

Turn your services into a course

Working with clients allows you to research and find out what your target audience’s problems are. You can find out what they’re struggling with, what their challenges are and you can notice any patterns that are emerging.

You start to see the main issues or problems that crop up and you can create a framework to help people overcome these problems.

If you’ve worked with clients, do you take them through a process? What are the steps that you create to take them from point a to point b?

It’s likely that you already teach people a framework and you can whatever it is you can package into an online course.

This is exactly what I did when I created a course on courses. I took the 4 key steps I teach my clients to create an online course and I packaged it into a mini-course.

The great thing about this is that it’s a lower barrier to entry and it allows people to “vet” me before they invest in my more robust program.
