Who this Kartra review is for

This review is for business owners who are considering investing in Kartra to grow their online business.

From my experience of testing and using Kartra, it’s well suited for beginners who are building sales funnels and sending marketing automations to their audience.

It’s also suited for intermediate to advanced uses who want to simplify and streamline their business tools into an all-in-one solution.

Therefore, this Kartra review is suited for people who:

  • Are offering 1:1 services and want to sell passive income products, such as online courses or memberships.
  • Who want to create systems, such as sales funnels that build relationships and lead people to your offers.
  • No longer want to take a band-aid approach to their email marketing and funnels. If you’re looking to up-level your systems beyond WordPress and plugins then this Kartra review is perfect for you!
  • Want to stand out from the crowd and capture their audience through a variety of means, such as funnels, webinars, high-value opt ins, free courses and free trials.
  • Are comparing different sales funnel platforms, landing page builders and membership platforms to find out which one is the best fit for them.
  • Might be looking for an alternative to other platforms such as Clickfunnels and Kajabi because of the hefty overheads. If you’re looking to reduce your business costs, this Kartra review is also for you.

The whole-package approach

First, I’ll start by saying that Kartra is very different to other platforms because it is the ‘whole-package approach’.

If you have an online business, you’ll know that there are many moving parts to create a business that functions like a well-oiled machine.

No longer is a WordPress blog and basic email software sufficient to run an online business.

Today, you need to create fine-tuned and personalised communications to connect with your audience. So, you need a variety of features to do this, including landing pages, webinars, email segmentation and funnels.

As there is a demand for more features, it’s becoming increasingly more difficult to piece together a plethora of business tools.

Plus, this band-aid approach of trying to connect your WordPress with plugins and tools can be costly and time-consuming.

Kartra attempts to solve this problem with it’s all-in-one business platform. Essentially, Kartra consolidates your pages, online courses, membership sites, email system and payments in one place.

So, instead of having to switch between platforms you can have one home for your online business. Pretty sweet right?

The advantages of this are:

  • You no longer have to choose between a plethora of business tools
  • Can have all of your processes in one place so it’s easier to manage
  • See the ‘bigger picture’ of your online business
  • Visually see the flow of your funnels and customer journey
  • It’s easier to track your marketing goals and you can monitor key metrics, such as open rates and click rates

The disadvantages of this are:

There is some functionality that Kartra excludes. For example, although Kartra allows you to write blog posts, it’s SEO isn’t going to be as robust as WordPress. WordPress has been in the making for 15 years and because of that it’s number one self-hosted platform for blogging. However, Kartra is not competing with WordPress.

Kartra’s platform differs to other players in the online marketing space by being goal-oriented instead of task-oriented.

Goal-oriented vs task-oriented

So, if you’re torn between WordPress and Kartra or you’re trying to figure out how to marry WordPress and Kartra there is a way around it! In fact, I recommend that you keep your WordPress site for blogging and all of your other pages are done on Kartra.

Kartra’s platform differs to other players in the online marketing space by being goal-oriented instead of task-oriented.

What is goal-oriented? Good question! Basically, it’s to think about the end goal first and work back from there. This is a completely different way of doing marketing and this is probably my favorite thing about Kartra because I am a self-confessed procrastinator!

For example, what we usually do when we set up a funnel is this:

  1. We create an opt-in page
  2. Build a thank you page
  3. Offer page
  4. Build email sequence 1-3
  5. Determine end goal

Instead, Kartra wants you to start with the end goal first and work back from there. So, Kartra wants you to do this:

  1. Determine end goal
  2. Build email sequence 1-3
  3. Offer page
  4. Build a thank you page
  5. Create an opt in page

Basically, you’re encouraged to focus on the end goal of your funnel before you build it. If we’re doing that when we’re planning our funnel, it makes sense to continue doing it when we’re building our funnel.

Bottom line. Kartra’s goal oriented approach wants you to focus on the end goal before the other steps in your funnel so that you’re more likely to achieve it. Pretty smart isn’t it?

Kartra pricing plans

If you’re considering investing in Kartra as a funnel builder for your business, you’re probably thinking about the pricing.

Kartra has a few pricing plans and these plans depend on the size of your email list and amount of emails you send. In other words, the bigger your list and the more emails you send, the bigger the price.

If you are a beginner and you have an email list less than 2,500 contacts, you’re better off starting with the starter pack at $89 a month. Or, if you have a bigger email list of 12,500 then the silver plan is going to be a better fit for you.

Also, your plan will depend on the number of products that you have. If you have up to 20 products, the starter plan is perfect. However, if you have more than 20 products, then you’ll need the silver plan.

In my view, there’s no point in purchasing a bigger plan if you have less than 2,500 on your email list or you’re sending less than 15,000 emails a month to your list. So, I recommend starting out with the starter plan.

The core Kartra features

So far so good, but what do you actually get in Kartra?

Alright… let me share with you the insider details. Kartra has several features to help you with your online business.

Let me break down each feature so that you know what to expect and you get the most out of this Kartra review.

1. Funnel builder

First things first, let’s kick off this Kartra review by checking out the most important feature – the funnel builder.

Kartra’s funnel builder let’s you build sales funnels by dragging and dropping objects to a canvas.

Creating a sales funnel in Kartra is super easy and fairly intuitive. To do this, you would create a starting rule for your sequence, for example, this could be someone filling out a form.

Next, you would add an email object and configure the day it’s sent, who it’s from etc. Then you’d add the content to your communication. Here you have two options, you can choose between basic or advanced.

This comes in handy if you’re doing a product launch and you’re going to be using features, such as images, testimonials, videos, call to actions and countdowns.

After you’ve created your steps, you need to connect it to the other steps in the funnel until a yellow arrow is shown. Then you need to activate your step so that it goes live when you publish it.

Here’s a brief video of the sequence builder in action:

Pros

  • It’s easy to create a sales funnel with the drag and drop function, so you can set up a funnel fairly quickly.
  • You can visually see the flow of your funnels so you can see the bigger picture of your customers’ journey.
  • You can do split tests to optimise your open rates and conversions. This comes in handy if you want to test different headlines and email text. Kartra also gives you the option to set a percentage on this. For example, you can split test a variable such as your headline for the first 100 people and then based on that result you can edit your headline.
  • You can leverage advanced features for your product launches, such as testimonials, call to actions, countdown timers, videos and testimonials.
  • You have the option to “split” your emails. For example, if you’re sending out a few freebies, instead of your audience receiving a few sequences from you, alternatively you can create a “split” after a welcome email. As a result, people who opt in to receive a few of your lead magnets, would only receive one sequence from you.
  • Every step in your funnel generates metrics for open rates, click rates and the amount of income generated. This comes in handy when you want to see which emails brought in the most sales.

Cons

  • If you’re a beginner at funnel building, it isn’t super clear that you need to link steps with the yellow arrow as there aren’t instructions or tips shown on the page. (I know this as I’ve seen many people get stuck on this). However, once you learn this, you get the hang of it.

Conclusion on Funnel Building

It’s easy to create a sales funnel with the drag and drop function, so you can set up a funnel fairly quickly. However, if you’re a beginner to funnel building it isn’t always clear on how to connect the steps.

2. Email marketing

Another important element for this Kartra review is email marketing. With Kartra you can create email campaigns and broadcasts. Broadcasts are one-time emails that you send out to your email list, for example this might be a one-time offer or a weekly newsletter.

So, let’s take a look at the email builder shall we?

Kartra’s email builder is intuitive and it makes it easy to create a custom email with components like header images, testimonials, buttons, videos and call to actions etc.

Kartra gives you a ton of high-quality email templates to make sure that your emails have an ‘expert’ feel to them.

Here’s a glimpse of what creating an email broadcast looks like.

Pros

  • You can easily save them email templates so that you have a consistent look and feel. So, you can have your emails created and sent out quickly.
  • It’s easy to customise your emails with custom headers, images and fonts so that you can give personality to your communications.
  • Ability to organise your broadcasts with categories. This comes in handy when you want to duplicate emails, reuse promo emails, repurpose content or get inspiration!
  • Segment your email list so that people receive tailored communications based on their behaviour. For example, whether they subscribed to your list, filled out a form, purchased an offer or didn’t purchase an offer).
  • Kartra gives you recommendations on the best times to email your list based on open rates and (CTR) Click-Through Rates.

Cons

  • Probably one of the biggest downsides of email marketing that I’ve seen people discuss is the branding. For most email providers, you can remove the branding, especially when you’re paying for the service. However, Kartra has its logo on the bottom of each email. Now, this might be a deal breaker for some people because it suggests that Kartra puts it’s own brand before the needs of their customers. I said I’d be honest didn’t I?

Conclusion

Kartra’s email builder is intuitive and it makes it easy to create a custom email with components like header images, testimonials, countdowns etc. You can also duplicate emails and organise your broadcasts by using categories so that it’s easier to find emails to get inspiration or repurpose them.

3. Kartra Landing Pages

Another core feature that is worth mentioning in this Kartra review are Kartra landing pages.

Kartra’s landing pages are organised by categories so you can organise your pages into various categories. This comes in handy when you want to quickly find a page to edit it or clone it. I’ve duplicated my pages a few times and it’s so much quicker!

For example, to organise your pages you might create categories based on the type of page that they are, such as ‘opt in pages’, ‘thank you pages’, ‘payment pages’, ‘webinar pages’ and ‘sales pages’ etc.,

Kartra has a ton of stunning high-converting pages, so you can choose a page and easily customise it.

Once you’ve started to create your own landing pages you can save them as templates. Again, this means that you can build a page and get it up and running fairly quickly.

Pros

  • The page builder is easy to use and intuitive. So, you can build a page, give it a name, publish it and get a page up and running fairly quickly.
  • It’s easy to drag and drop components onto your page, such as opt in forms and call to actions.
  • You can embed videos onto your page using Vimeo, YouTube or Kartra. Kartra video comes in handy when you’re doing a launch and you want to see at what point did they leave the video or at what point did they purchase during the video.
  • It’s easy to create a sales page and link it to a checkout page. This is far better when you have your sales page and checkout pages in one place. As opposed to having to link your leadpages with Sam Cart. What a drag!
  • In the settings, you can easily add SEO or a tracking code if you’re running Facebook ads.

Cons

  • Unlike other tools, Kartra doesn’t automatically save your content. This can be irritating if your browser disconnects and you lose your content. To prevent this make sure you click save progress when you’ve built your page.
  • It’s easy to create a page, save your progress, visit the link only to see it showing a previous version of your page. Make sure you click ‘publish’ after each revision so you see the latest version of your page.
  • It isn’t clear what your font or line-height is in your text because Kartra doesn’t label it for you. So, to make sure that it is consistent throughout the page, keep a note of it or duplicate text elements.
  • Each time you create a page with Kartra, you need to create a form and go through a series of steps before your form is completed. For example, if you are creating a landing page for your opt in then you’ll need a thank you page, landing page, a form, a list etc. As a result, you can end up doing everything at once and it can feel overwhelming.

Pro tip. Before you create a form or a page, sketch out on a piece of paper the different steps. Then start with building the last step, such as the checkout page, or thank you page.

Conclusion on Landing Pages

Kartra’s landing page builder makes it super easy to drag and drop different components on your landing page, such as testimonials, countdowns, header images and lists etc. They are organised by categories so you can organise your pages so they’re easy to find and duplicate.

Also, Kartra doesn’t automatically save your work unlike other providers, so remember to manually save your page.

4. Products and Payments

Another important element to cover in this Kartra review are the products and payment systems. In Kartra, you can create a range of products to suit any product type, such as ebooks, online courses and done for you services.

Each time you create a product, you’ll need to go through various steps before it’s up and running. First, you’ll need to name your product and then configure payment processing. You can easily set up payment processing and you have a few options such as Paypal, Stripe, or credit card.

Next, you can set product pricing. You can set payment options like one-time payment, recurring payment or limited number of installments. These options come in handy for when you do product launches!

You can also have an initial payment so people get a taste of your product e.g., $10 for the first 30 days. Recurring payments are great if you have a membership platform. You can also set sales tax and create a refund policy.

If you have different price points you can create customised pages. For example, if your offer includes a 1:1 session, after someone purchase this, you can add a ‘Book a Call’ call to action on your thank you page. To do this, you just go to your product > contents > The Thank-You Page and for each price point select the thank you page.

Or, if you someone purchases your VIP membership, you might give them access to a different community. Again, you’d have a different price point for this and you’d link it to a thank you page with a link to access the community. Pretty sweet, huh?

Pros

  • You can set payment options like one-time payment, recurring payment or limited number of installments. Pretty useful for when you’re doing a launch and want to offer multiple pricing options!
  • It’s easy to customise how people access your product, for example, through a Kartra membership, custom link or downloadable file.
  • You can create tags and send specific communications to those tags. For example, you might create a tag called “abandoned cart”, so if someone viewed a page but didn’t purchase they will receive a sequence of emails. This gives you a great opportunity to address objections people might have towards buying your offer. Again, this is amazing for when you’re launching a digital product!

Cons

  • The downside of products is that when you create a product, you have to go through several steps before you can edit it.

How To Grow An Audience For Your Digital Product

Conclusion on Products and Payments

You can set up products that have different price points and you can set different payment options like one time payment, recurring payment or limited number of instalments. These come in handy for when you do product launches.

However, when you create products in Kartra, you have to go through all of the steps. So, you can’t directly edit your product.

5. Courses and memberships

Another core feature of Kartra is the ability to deliver courses and memberships, so it’s worth mentioning in this Kartra review. Kartra has a membership portal management system to deliver your courses and memberships. It makes it fairly easy to deliver your content to your members and manage how they receive your content.

When you create a membership in Kartra you have two options on how people can access it. You can give them full access to your content or you can drip one module at a time to your members using Kartra’s automation features.

To set up a membership in Kartra, simply go to my memberships and Kartra will take you through a series of steps until your membership is up and running.

Once you’ve gone through those steps, you can go to the ‘membership builder’ to add content to your membership. Very similar to the other features in Kartra, you drag and drop elements to a blank canvas.

To begin building your membership, you need to create a post. To do this, go to the banner on the left and under ‘post contents’ drag an element, such as a header or text box.

Next, keep adding different content elements that you need to deliver your content.

Kartra gives you a range of elements to choose from that you can add to your post. These are:

  • Headline
  • Text
  • Image
  • Videos
  • Audio playlist
  • Divider
  • Button
  • Download box
  • Links box
  • Remember box
  • Important box
  • Checklist box

After you’ve added all the elements to a post, you can add your host bio. To do this, simply go to the banner on the left and where it says ‘sidebar contents, drag and drop host into your sidebar area.

Finally, if you want to create separate modules for your membership you can do this using categories. To do this, simply go to ‘new category’ and drag it into the canvas. Next, you’ll need to label the title of your module.

Once you’ve created your membership, you can change the structure of it so your modules appear on the left. To do this, you can go to preview and select a style and colour for your membership.

Pros

  • Kartra gives you plenty of content styles using the drag and drop feature such as text, headers, audio playlists and video etc. This is great if you want to give your audience an immersive experience.
  • You can organise your courses into modules using the categories in the sidebar and you can change where these categories are displayed.
  • The portals give you a chance to showcase your courses that you have. This is great for up-selling because if one person purchased an offer and they got value from it, they’re likely to purchase your other courses.

Cons

  • As you might already notice, the membership builder doesn’t have as many customisation features as the page builder. For example, there is a limited amount of font styles to choose from. So, Kartra still has a long way until it’s a fully customisable learning management system.

Conclusion on Courses and Memberships

The membership portals give you a chance to showcase the different courses that you have. This is great for up-selling because if one person has received a free offer and they got value from it, it’s a no-brainer for them to upgrade and purchase a paid offer. However, the membership builder doesn’t have as many customisation features as the page builder.

6. Support

Another important feature to consider for this Kartra review is the support. Any time I consider purchasing a tool for my business I always make sure that customer support is included in my purchase.

That’s because if I’m going to make an investment in something, I need to have support so that I can get the most out of the tool.

Above that, the stakes are high particularly when you’re running ads, launching a product or dealing with a client’s account. So, it’s important that I have a team of people that I can contact if I need something to be resolved quickly.

Kartra offers 24/7 customer support and you can submit support tickets and use live chat for an answer to your solution. Kartra also has a Q&A webinar every week where you can bring your questions.

There’s often 3 people on each Q&A webinar and there’s often someone who can answer your question and share their screen to show you how to do it. If it’s something that’s more specific, they’ll recommend that you contact the support team and send a screen share so that they can help you better.

Also, if you’re overwhelmed and you want more hands-on support on how to set everything up in Kartra, they have a Concierge with an additional fee. However, I haven’t used this myself.

I had a specific request to create a header image on the top of every page so that my lead magnet was visible on every page of my site. There’s a good conversion tip for ya!

Within a few hours, a lovely fella from the Kartra support team got back to me. He gave a detailed response in text and sent me a 4 minute video screencast on how to create a custom header image on a page. He also sent me an additional screenshot on how to adjust the size of the image on the page using the page builder.

However, I made an additional ticket to ask how I could use this header image on every blog post on my site. This is because every page on my site is on Kartra because I want to optimise my conversions.

However, because Kartra is not a blog editor like WordPress I have decided to keep my blogs on WordPress. However, I still want to have my header images on my blog posts. So, I asked the support team on how to do this and they suggested that I go to WordPress for a solution.

Conclusion on Support

Kartra has a brilliant customer support team and from my experience they genuinely want to help you. If you have a question, they’re willing to help you and share with you step-by-step what you need to do to solve your problem.

This beats other companies where they might refer you to guides that they’ve previously written, which doesn’t always help you.

7. Analytics

Finally, one of the best features that’s worth mentioning in this review is the integrated analytics.

Essentially, you have a complete track of your customer’s journey from the point of entry through funnels, email sequences, membership and products. Pretty sweet, huh?

Kartra has a dashboard where you can view and measure key metrics, such as sales, subscriptions, traffic and conversions. So, it makes it really easy to check-in and keep track of your traffic, list growth and sales.

Above that, Kartra has analytics for most of your features, such as open rates, click through rates, video views and sales.

This takes the guesswork out of your business and allows you to make informed business decisions based on data.

Nice one, Kartra.

Will kartra help me achieve my marketing goals?

If you’re an online business owner and you want to sell passive income products then you probably have 3 goals. 1) grow traffic, 2) grow your email list and 3) sell digital products. So, it’s worth mentioning in this Kartra review how Kartra can help you achieve these goals.

Grow traffic

Driving traffic to your website is crucial if you want to grow your email list and sell digital products. You need to have people visit your website in order to know who you are and what you have to offer.

Although Kartra isn’t a traffic generating tool, it’s platform allows you to get your landing pages and funnels running up quickly so that you can focus more on your time on traffic generating strategies, such as blogging, guest blogging, podcasting, Pinterest or paid advertising.

Plus, if you have a great lead magnet that is specific and relevant to your audience and an email sequence that builds a relationship with your audience and gives value, people will see you as the go-to person in your niche.

Essentially, people will know your value so they’ll return to your website to get more value from you and recommend your website or blog to their friends. Can you see how that works?

Grow your email list

The most important asset in your business is your email list. Your email list is the lifeblood of your business, without an email list you don’t have a business.

Before you create passive income products, you need to have a sufficient and engaged email list that you nurture consistently.

If you’re not consistently growing your list then you’ll be sharing your offer with a limited group of people. Basically, you end up sharing your offer to the same people over and over again. It doesn’t work!

Instead, you need to have a content plan so you’re consistently growing your email list and building a relationship with your audience.

If this is the case, you’ll need to refresh your lead magnet so that it solves one specific problem for one audience. After you’ve niched down, you’ll have a lead magnet that pre-qualifies people for your paid offer so that you attract people who are ready to buy from you.

Once you’ve refined these pieces, Kartra can help you increase your email conversions in a number of ways.

A) Done for you list-building funnel

Once you’ve signed up to Kartra you get access to several done for you campaigns. One of these campaigns is the list building funnel. It’s worthwhile starting off with this campaign as it will populate everything as a template to get you started faster.

Meaning, you’ll have a list-building funnel up and running quickly so that you can attract a consistent stream of people every day.

However, I will say that you can have the best funnels but if your offer isn’t specific or relevant to your audience, your funnels aren’t going to convert. This is why I recommend that you do the necessary groundwork and market research before you create any offer.

B) Expertly designed landing pages

Kartra has expertly designed landing pages that are proven to convert in the online marketing space. So, that gives you a head start because you know that a good offer with Kartra landing pages are going to convert really well.

However, no matter how awesome Kartra landing pages are you need to make sure that your landing page has the right elements in it so that it converts.

C) Pop-ups

If you want to grow your email list, it’s worth adding an additional 7 opt-in forms on your website. Have you ever heard the rule of seven? Basically, it takes someone on average 7 times before they take action.

This rule also applies to how you place your opt-in forms on your site. That’s why I recommend that you place your lead magnet as many as 7 times on your site.

One of the ways to do this is through pop-ups. Pop-ups are amazing for growing your email list because it gives people another opportunity to sign up to your email list.

It’s really easy to create a pop-up form in Kartra. Simply, go to the page where you want a pop up appear and click on ‘pop ups’. Kartra will show you a dozen of pop up templates to choose from. This means that you can have a pop up up and running fairly quickly. Kartra also gives settings for your pop up to be activated on the first visit or every visit.

D) High-value opt-ins

Another strategy to grow your email list is with high-value opt-ins. Once you’ve created a lead magnet for your audience to grow your audience to 1000 subscribers, you can up-level your lead magnet with a high value opt in.

This might be a free online course, free resource library or a trial to your membership area for 7 days.

The great thing about this is that it showcases your value, delivery style, mission and personality. It creates an immersive experience for your audience to see your value first-hand. As a result, it becomes a no brainer to upgrade to your paid products or courses.

Setting this up in Kartra is relatively easy. Simply, create landing page with an opt in form. Next, create an automation rule in your form so that people who will in the form get access to your membership. To do this, select IF person subscribers to list X, THEN grant them access to membership site X.

Pro Tip. Create a tag, such as ‘free resource library’ so that you can keep track of people who sign up to your free resource library and send them specific email communications.

Basically, once people fill in their name and email address, they’ll automatically receive an email with login details to access your free resource library. This free resource library will most likely be one level of your membership site.

After you’ve set the automation rules in your form, head to your membership builder and drag and drop your lead magnets. Pretty sweet, huh?

You can check out my resource library here.

Here’s an example of what my free resource library looks like.

E) Webinar pages

Another strategy to build your email list is through webinars. Webinars are amazing for capturing your audience because they humanise your brand and build trust quickly.

It’s relatively easy to set up a webinar inside Kartra and you have two options. You can either pre-record your webinar and upload the video to Kartra and embed the video into a page. Or you can sign up to a webinar tool such as Webinar Jam and integrate Webinar Jam with Kartra.

To do this simply, go to pages, choose a webinar landing page, create a form that links up to a separate email list. Next, upload your video to Kartra, create a new page and embed your pre-recorded webinar on a landing page. Alternatively, you can create a button for people to watch a live Zoom or Google Hangout.

3. Sell digital products

Once you’ve built your targeted list of email subscribers who are engaging with your content, your next goal will be to launch digital products so that you can make passive income on auto-pilot.

This is where Kartra can help you the most so it’s definitely worth mentioning in this Kartra review. Essentially, Kartra has built it’s platform with this in mind – to help you sell digital products and maximise your sales conversions.

Kartra has a number of expertly created features that have been proven to optimise your conversions in the online marketing space.

A) Multiple pricing options

Kartra gives you a range of pricing options for your digital products, such as one time payment, recurring payment or limited number of instalments. Having different pricing options have been proven to increase conversions, so they’re definitely worth taking advantage of if you want to increase your sales.

B) Done for you campaigns

When you sign into Kartra you’ll get access to several done for you campaigns that have been built to help you sell your digital products.

If you’ve already got an engaged email list between 1,000-2,500 email subscribers you can implement the 4 day cash machine. Using this campaign is amazing for getting a sales funnel up and running quickly. Meaning that you can start bringing immediate sales for your digital products.

To do this in Kartra, it’s pretty easy. Simply go to ‘done for you campaigns’ and click on ‘done for you’. Next, go to 4 Day Cash Machine and click ‘deploy’. Once, you’ve clicked deploy Kartra will take you through a series of steps to implement this campaign. Kartra also has a Quick Launch funnel that you can implement.

C) Tagging and segmentation

Another feature that Kartra has to help you sell your digital products is tagging and segmentation. Basically, after someone has signed up to receive your offer or watch your webinar, you can create separate tags based on how people behave.

As a result, you can attach these tags to separate email sequences so that people receive specific email communications from you.

This is an amazing tool to help you create intuitive and fine-tuned emails that make it feel like you’re speaking to one person. This is an amazing feature that is worth leveraging if you want to optimise your sales conversions.

D) Urgency components

Finally, Kartra helps you to leverage features that are proven to increase sales conversions, such as split testing, call to action buttons, countdown timers, money back guarantees and testimonials. Again these features in Kartra will help you optimise your sales conversions to sell more digital products.

Kartra vs Other Platforms

Whilst you’re researching Kartra, it’s likely that you’re comparing it with other platforms. So, let me breakdown how Kartra compares with other platforms so that you get the most out of this Kartra review.

Kartra or Clickfunnels?

Clickfunnels is the most popular sales funnel software in the marketplace today. This is where Clickfunnels beats Kartra because of it’s strong reputation and social proof for helping thousands of business owners create 7 figure businesses.

However, what makes Kartra different is the fact that it’s goal oriented versus task oriented. Basically, you’re encouraged to focus on the end goal of your funnel before you build it. If we’re doing that when we’re planning our funnel, it makes sense to continue doing it when we’re building our funnel.

Nice one, Kartra.

Another thing worth mentioning is the difference in pricing. That’s why many people using Clickfunnels are moving to Kartra because it’s $89 a month, compared to $97 a month.

Kartra also beats Clickfunnels with it’s tagging, segmentation and email automation.

So, it depends what you’re looking for. If you only want a sales funnel builder and memberships then  Clickfunnels might be a good fit. However, if you’re looking for a sales funnel builder and a marketing automation system, then Kartra will be a better fit.

How does Kartra compare to Leadpages?

If you’re using Leadpages you might be looking into Kartra to compare which one is better for you. Leadpages used to be the number 1 page builder. However, Leadpages is only a page builder, whereas Kartra is a page builder, sales funnel builder and marketing automation platform.

Therefore, if you’re just looking to build landing pages, Leadpages might be all you need. However, if you want to move beyond the band aid approach and consolidate your landing pages, sales funnels and marketing automation in one place, Kartra is better.

What about WordPress?

Kartra and WordPress aren’t worth comparing to each other because they both specialise in different things. WordPress is a self-hosted blogging platform that specialises in blogging and driving traffic to your website with optimised SEO.

On the other hand, Kartra specialises in what it does best, which is page building, funnel building and integrating your email automation and checkout functionality.

While WordPress is designed to bring traffic to your website, it’s not designed to host everything, such as your landing pages, sales funnels, email marketing and digital products. This is why you might be looking into plugins to create opt-ins on your site, or membership plugins to add membership features to your site.

This band-aid approach of trying to connect your wordpress with plugins and tools can be costly, time-consuming and difficult to manage.

Alright…

But what if I already have a blog? Do I need to choose one or the other? Good question!

Because Kartra isn’t built to drive traffic to your site from you blog, I recommend having both. You can keep your blog to create regular content so that you can attract traffic to your site.

To do this, simply install the plugin ‘blank slate’ plugin on WordPress and create a new page in WordPress.

Next, create a new page in WordPress and select the blank slate from the drop down menu.

Once you’ve done that create a homepage in Kartra with a navigation menu and header image for your homepage. Hit ‘publish’ and copy and paste the javascript code onto the blank page in WordPress.

After that, each time you edit your homepage in WordPress it will update your site. This works like magic and it means that you can keep your blog and have all of your other pages hosted on Kartra.

Final thoughts

Alright, I gave you all the insider details in this Kartra review and I really hope that you find it useful! Ultimately, it’s up to you whether you decide to go with Kartra it which will depend on your business goals and budget.

Give Kartra a spin and see for yourself whether Kartra is right for you. Once you sign up, you’ll receive access to the Kartra Academy where they’ll teach you the steps that you need to take to set up your lists, email campaigns, funnels, courses and memberships.

That’s why if you’re thinking of using Kartra, I’d recommend that you keep your blog on WordPress and use Kartra for everything else.

Kartra specialises in what it does best – page building, funnel building, and integrating your email marketing, courses and checkout systems. As such, it isn’t trying to do everything and it doesn’t.

P.S I wrote another post on Kartra after using it for a year. I was able to collect my thoughts and share what I thought about Kartra and all-in-one platforms altogether. It’s the next intuitive step after reading this post and I think it will be helpful for you.
